Informed choices for campus life
Welcome! This page is designed for Alberta schools looking to support students with reliable, research-based education about cannabis. Whether your students are curious or just seeking clarity, we’re here to help you spark informed conversations.
Who we are
CannabisSense is AGLC’s dedicated marketing social responsibility program, created to empower Albertans with the facts they need to make smart, informed choices about non-medical cannabis.
Our mission is to support informed decision-making through accessible, judgement-free education—no scare tactics, no stigma, just the facts.
We’re here to help Albertans navigate cannabis with confidence, whether they’re curious, cautious, or somewhere in between. Through public campaigns, CannabisSense sparks meaningful conversations across the province.

Cannabis program & social responsibility
While CannabisSense leads the charge in public education and awareness, Danielle Matthiessen—our Cannabis Program Specialist is the driving force behind bringing that mission into Alberta’s schools through strategic outreach and content development. With over 18 years of experience in public education and social responsibility, and a background in psychology, sociology, harm reduction and recovery, Danielle empowers young people to navigate cannabis with confidence and care. Her Science of Cannabis certificate from McMaster University adds further depth and credibility to her work.
Danielle’s role bridges the gap between CannabisSense’s public messaging and the real-world conversations happening in classrooms. Through presentations, resources and one-on-one support, she helps schools deliver cannabis education that is engaging, evidence-based and free of judgement.
